  Sift will release their final album, Denouement, on August 31, 2023. The album was written and recorded by Curt Meinhold and Justin Burmeister between 2019 and 2020. Mixed and mastered by Geoff Weber.
  
  Meinhold and Burmeister made a conscious effort to highlight their musical influences during the writing process, and as with most Sift releases, the album blends many musical genres. The title track “Denouement” is unapologetic about the impact The Cure and Alan Watts had on them, while “Heartstrings” harkens to 80s synth pop, and “Doom” creates an uneasy horror feel with influences from Saint Vitus and Radiohead. “Smolder” recaptures their 90s roots with a nod to Nine Inch Nails and Skinny Puppy and “Neverwill” merges all their influences into a dark, brooding 4 minutes. Finally, “Binary” mirrors the risks our society faces as we become more divided in a post-rock composition that builds to a crescendo before breaking down and dissolving.
  
  Sift started this project in 2019 with the intention of releasing this album and opening a live music space in Greensboro, NC. In September of 2020, Justin Burmeister was diagnosed with cancer.
